Obama spotlights economy in midterm message

President Barack Obama launches a midterm election effort Thursday designed to convince voters of a vigorous economic recovery that a majority still doubts. During remarks at Northwestern University's business school here, Obama is set to deliver a "forceful case for America's strength and leadership at home," the White House said, casting the address as a domestic version of the president's call for an assertive U.S. foreign policy at last week's United Nations General Assembly.
