Leaders try pushing Medicare bill to final congressional OK

Senate leaders worked Tuesday in rare bipartisan harmony to push legislation overhauling how Medicare pays physicians toward final congressional approval. The package would prevent an immediate 21 percent cut in the fees doctors collect from Medicare and finance health programs for children and the poor.
