N.J. lawmakers seek federal help for Delaware River Basin

WASHINGTON - Eight members of the New Jersey congressional delegation on Tuesday joined with lawmakers from neighboring New York and Pennsylvania in introducing legislation in both the House and Senate seeking federal funding to improve the Delaware River Basin. The Delaware River Basin Conservation Act would provide $5 million in matching federal grants for projects designed to improve habitats and water quality and reduce the threat from floods in the basin, and create a Delaware River Basin Restoration Program in the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service.
