How 2014 Became the Worst Year in U.S.-Russia Relations Since the Cold War

President Obama and Russian President Vladimir Putin on a split-screen during an international D-Day commemoration ceremony on the beach of Ouistreham, Normandy, on June 6. On the last day of 2013, Russian President Vladimir Putin sent President Obama a hopeful New Year's Eve message. Putin praised the two nations for sharing a "spirit of partnership and respect for each other's interests" that year.
