Birmingham among 16 applicants to host 2016 presidential debate

President Barack Obama and Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney participate in the first presidential debate at the University of Denver on Wednesday night in Denver. The list of applicants for 2016 presidential debates has been released, and Birmingham is one of more than a dozen sites in the running.
