Former New York Governor Mario Cuomo Dies

Throughout the 1980s and 1990s, Mr Cuomo was a leading figure in the Democratic Party but refused to run for the US presidency. Barack Obama has led tributes to the former governor of New York, Mario Cuomo, who has died at the age of 82. The governor's office said in a statement Mr Cuomo, who served three terms as New York's 52nd chief executive from 1983 to 1994, had died of "natural causes due to heart failure" at his Manhattan home with his family at his side.
